STEVE CLEMENTS LOOKS
TO DEFEND NATIONAL TITLE
IN 2008 JIM BEAM BOARDRIDERS CUP
Northern Beaches surfers, led by defending
champion Steve Clements, will be looking to take advantage
of local knowledge when the Jim Beam Boardriders Cup National
Final gets underway at North Narrabeen Beach on Thursday.
The Jim Beam Boardriders Cup National Final sees the Club
Champions from Board Riding Clubs all over Australia compete
for the National Title, on the eve of the Jim Beam Surftag
National Final.
Clements (Long Reef) is the defending champion but faces
stiff opposition current Australian Amateur Champion Matt
Bemrose (Curl Curl) and former WCT surfer Nathan Webster,
who will be surfing on his home break at North Narrabeen.
Current WQS surfers Cory Ziems (Kirra, Qld) and Dion Atkinson
(Seaford, SA) lead the charge from around Australia while
former World No.2 Dave McCauley (Margaret River, WA) and former
WCT star Jake Spooner (Sandon Point) offer plenty of experience.
Last year’s runner up Marcus Aboody (Lennox Ballina) and
2006 Champion Drew Courtney from Umina will also be backing
up for the 2008 Jim Beam Boardriders Cup National Final, meaning
competition will be tough at North Narrabeen.
Competition gets underway at 8.00am on Thursday morning with
the final set to be staged at 3.00pm.
There will be a LIVE
webcast of the Jim Beam Surftag National Final on Friday,
starting at 8.00am AEST at www.globalsurftag.com
The 2008 Jim Beam Surftag National Series is proudly supported
by Jim Beam, Oneill, Oporto, Vmoto, Mizone, Tracks and Coastalwatch.
